How did I get started in Mexico
Acapulco, Mexico
I embarked on a journey that would forever change my path in the world of martial arts. I traveled to Acapulco, Mexico, a beautiful coastal city known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture, to attend the Mexican Open event at Hotel Copacabana. Acapulco’s warm climate and picturesque scenery provided the perfect backdrop for this prestigious event.
Competition
I brought one of my students, Rolando Galeana, a talented black belt, to compete in kickboxing and grappling. The excitement of the competition was palpable, with martial artists from around the world showcasing their skills and pushing their limits.
Crossing paths
It was here that I met Sensei Luis Jimenez. His presence was commanding, and his reputation in the martial arts community preceded him. Sensei Jimenez’s dedication to Zen martial arts was inspiring, and his philosophy resonated deeply with me. We engaged in profound conversations about martial arts, discipline, and the spiritual journey that accompanies this path.
Our meeting at the Mexican Open marked the beginning of my journey into Zen Martial Arts.
This encounter in Acapulco was a pivotal moment in my martial arts career, setting me on a path of growth and self-discovery.
